SEMESTER 2
WEEK 1:
During this week, I was brainstorming my interest so I can choose which interest to use to research furthermore. First, I was thinking of topics in general, but with the help of the teacher I listed down few interests such as social networking, Vietnamese New Year, volcanic ash, earthquakes and tsunami in Japan, weather and space (lunar eclipse, moon, stars...). After that I had a talk to my friend, which was Stephanie about the list that I made. She gave me a few ideas to pick a topic that is interesting but easy to find information. After thinking through for a while, I chose to do Vietnamese New year. But then, after a while, I don’t really know what way to do to achieve my research effectively particularly getting primary sources. Then, I had a talk to Sara, she gave me some ideas like I could interview young generations in Australia to find out their thoughts of Vietnamese New Year. I thought that idea was really good.
SEMESTER 2
WEEK 2:
During this week, our teacher showed us some of the year 12 research from the previous years to get some ideas what is going on and what will be expected in this subject. I looked through and I’ve learnt a lot. It helped me a lot especially with producing a proposal for my own topic.
In the mean time, I decided to research furthermore in Vietnamese New year.Reasons why I chose this topic is even though, my background is Vietnamese but I don’t really know a lot about my cultures and customs in- depth. Therefore, I want to use this opportunity to spend more time on researching more about my own culture and customs from where I raised up. In particularly, I want to investigate to understand and gain more knowledge about the important of the festival celebrations such as Vietnamese New year.
Then, I produced a draft proposal of my own and sent it over email to my teacher so he can check and give me some feedback to improve it.

HOLIDAYS
WEEK 1:
I went on Google search engine and tried to find information about my chosen topic. I found some useful websites that could help me answering my focus question. Also, this week, I tried to look at different questions to help me to answer my focus question which was why is the celebration of Vietnamese New Year so important to every Vietnamese person and why should we maintain celebrating this festival?
WEEK 2:
At the end of this week, one of my friends, Stephanie asked me to go to the State Library to find some books but unfortunately I couldn’t make it due to busy doing other homework.
Letter to Mr. T :)
SEMESTER 2
WEEK 3:

This week, I continued working on researching to find some key findings for my focus questions. I used internet as my source to find the answers to my questions.

Also, our task for this week is to list down some of the ethics notes and some key findings related to our focus questions.

Here are some of my ethics and safety points:

- Consent forms will be hand out for surveys and interviews

- I will not plagiarise anybody’s work

- Make sure I won’t upset them when asking them in detailed

- Stop asking if refugees are getting emotional

My plan for next week is to create survey questions to get more primary sources.
WEEK 4:
At the start of this week, I had a discussion with my teacher about my guiding questions. He gave me some ideas to answer my questions. In order to answer one of my guiding questions, I need to research on the facts about Viet people such as culture differences, historical differences, language differences and religious differences that has affects the ways of celebrating Vietnamese new year

In the doubles on Wednesday, all of the students in my Research Project to come up in front of the whole class and make a talk between 2- 5 minutes. This talk included:

  1. Topic/ questions
  2. Brief explanation of your topic and process so far
  3. Any key findings identified
